BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in rural Wisconsin profoundly shaped Kainz’s relationship with materials. On her family's dairy farm, salvaged wood served multiple purposes—from barn construction to fuel for the wood stove that heated their home. This early exposure to resourcefulness and finding potential in discarded materials continues to influence her artistic practice today.
Kainz holds degrees in neuroscience and completed her postdoctoral research at Harvard University before fully committing to her artistic practice. Her recent work can be seen at the Nave Gallery in Somerville, MA, and a sculpture installation will be on display soon in the Studios Without Walls outdoor exhibition in Riverway Park in Brookline, MA.
